UNDERSCORE NO.4/FLIGHT

September 21, 2012

I'm a bit of a magazine freak. I tend to buy them even when I'm too broke and too busy to actually read them. The recent proliferation in lifestyle-centric publications has burnt a huge hole in my pocket, but I'm more than happy with the new additions to the magazine scene!

After a year-long wait, local indie-lifestyle magazine UNDERSCORE finally released it's fourth issue, FLIGHT. Needless to say, I bought it immediately. It's been sitting on my table for more than a month and I still can't find the time to finish it in one sitting! I'm determined to delve in the pages soon. Especially when they look like this:

It's full of dreamy landscapes, unique places and interviews of people leading extraordinary lives from all over the world. This issue features a tightrope walker, a retired space shuttle, an abandoned flight runway and the creation of fireworks. It's a combination that fits just right with this issue's theme and it goes to show the attention the editorial team has in the curation of content.

You know you have something good here when it is stocked in places far, far away (spotted UNDERSCORE no.3 in a bookstore in Amsterdam this July) and it blended in perfectly with the other international publications sitting on the same rack. Who says local has to be HDBs and Kopi-See?

Love,
Tiffany
